Do I need to fast?
It depends on the test. Glucose and the lipid panel usually require 8 to 12 hours of fasting (water is fine); CBC and thyroid tests normally don't. When in doubt, call us before coming and we'll tell you exactly how to prepare so you don't have to come back another day.
How often should I get blood work?
For healthy adults, once a year is a good rule of thumb. If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol or family history, your doctor may recommend more frequent checks — every 3 to 6 months — to adjust treatment in time.
