At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud Hammerly in Spring Branch, we confirm a possible pregnancy with a urine or blood test run in our own lab. It's for you if your period is late, your home test was hard to read, or you need medically backed confirmation in Houston, handled privately and without judgment.
Urine or blood test: which one fits you?
Both look for hCG, the hormone your body makes during pregnancy. The urine test is simple and gives a yes-or-no answer. The blood test can pick up smaller amounts of the hormone and measure how much is there, which helps when a home test showed a very faint line or when the medical team needs to follow how things progress. During the visit we suggest whichever makes more sense for you.
When is it worth taking the test?
Ideally once your period is late. Test too early and the result may come back negative even if you're pregnant, because the hormone hasn't yet reached the level the test can detect. If it's negative but your period still doesn't come, repeat it or come back so the team can look at other reasons for the delay, such as thyroid changes, stress or a medication.
Positive result: what are your next steps?
- The clinic's medical team confirms the result and explains it to you privately.
- We review the medications and supplements you take in case any of them should change.
- We guide you through early care: eating well, what to avoid, and warning signs like bleeding or strong pain.
- If the team recommends it, the ultrasound is done right at the clinic, and we point you to where you can continue prenatal care.
What if it's negative and you weren't trying to conceive?
That makes it a natural time to bring up family planning. During the same visit you can learn about birth control options and pick the one that suits your life.
Stop by Hammerly Blvd whenever you need to, weekday evenings included. There's no need to call ahead.
